((EDIT: Yes, I am well aware that many of you viewers think that the holes in his wings are a bit too big. But that is how they were in the games AND the concept artwork I used for referrence! Deal with it!))
So I'm going in chonological order here with the dragon guardians. Cyril and Terrador will be coming next after this one.
I gotta say, I had a lot of fun drawing this piece. Out of all of the pics that I've drawn of the Spyro characters, this was the one I enjoyed doing the most. I was experamenting with lighting and shadow to the extreme on this one, and I am rather proud on how it turned out.
I drew several layers of clouds and rock spires to get the feeling of depth and space to show that this is a huge place he's in. The rain was probably the most difficult thing along with adding the spray as it's hitting him and also the drips of water as it's falling down.
Any normal dragon wouldn't like to be caught in this kind of weather, but Volteer being an electric dragon, I think he rather enjoys it!
A dragon chillin' in an electric storm?! This may be my new favorite of yours, Fyre! There's just something about storms that are calming and exciting at the same time, and it looks like this guy shares my passion. The pose of the dragon is just awesome, easily resting on the rock spire. I love how you make the subjects of your art so vivid in character and design. Holey wings, Batman, I think I like this character a lot. I love the effect of the rain especially the thin layer that's shimmering just above and dripping down his scales. You have a talent for lighting effects and color. (Background could use a little work, however I love the landscape.) What I wouldn't give to be out in that storm! Although, I would bet he's a little more lightning proof. (Oh, forget it; I'd be out in the storm anyway! HIT ME!) Incredible work!
Volteer + pointy rocks + dark clouds + rain and lightning= AWESOMENESS!!!
I love whatever technique you used for the lightning! It's lighted beautifully and the shading is done perfectly. Very well done on the illumination! I like the the way the rain looks as it's hitting him. (Very nicely done on the rain btw, I bet that wasn't easy!)
I like how you do rocks. They're always so well textured and you just keep improving with each new piece. It really does look like he's in a vast place. And yes, even in the rain I think Volteer would be content as long as there is lightning. I like how you did the holes in his wings. I haven't played the game in so long (shame on me) that I've forgotten what the holes looked like, but I still like them. As always I love it! Awesome job!
I like these so much I'm going to put them in my favorites. I always have been a fan of Spyro the dragon. I accidentally misspelled a word in my previous message.
